JÄÄDE
Finnish mineral water, sold as a premium product in Singapore and Poland. The identity already existed. I owned the visual direction: how the photography should look and feel, how a post should be framed and lit, and how the whole thing held at a luxury standard across every surface it touched.
Loved in Finland, enjoyed by the world. The brand's founding line.
The brief
JÄÄDE is natural mineral water drawn from Lahti in Finland, traced to Ice Age groundwater, and sold as a premium product in Singapore and Poland. The name is built from two Finnish words: JÄÄ, ice, and LÄHDE, spring.
I did not design the brand. The wordmark, the monogram, the typefaces and the voice were all set before I arrived. What I owned was the visual direction: what the photography should look and feel like, how a social post gets framed and lit, how much air sits around the mark, what gets cropped and what is left alone.
Guidelines tell you which typeface to use. They do not tell you whether a bottle is shot in hard light or soft, or whether a runner should be frozen sharp or pulled into blur. That judgement was mine, applied across paid social, retail, sponsorships, trade shows and film.
That is the constraint worth understanding. The brand voice is written as calm, pure and minimalist. There is no bold colour to hide behind and no illustration to fall back on. Every asset has to earn its premium feel through photography, spacing and restraint.
What was given, what was mine
Proxima Nova for headers, Haboro Contrast for body. A single deep blue. A monogram that reads as an Ä and a mountain at the same time. Five words governing tone: calm, pure, minimalist, respectful, inspiring.
That was the given. Everything downstream of it was a judgement call, and working to someone else's guidelines is a discipline rather than a limitation. Every decision gets measured against whether it belongs, not whether it is interesting.
Wordmark and monogram. The wave through the letters is the source.
JÄÄ means ice. LÄHDE means spring. The name is the origin story.

2XU Compression Run 2026
The largest piece of the engagement. JÄÄDE came on as Official Water Partner of the 2XU Compression Run in Singapore, which meant designing across the full event footprint: social announcements, race entry pack branding, an e-race guide, EDM, hanging banners, backdrop banners and giveaway assets.
The design problem in a co-branded campaign is that two brands rarely agree. 2XU is hard, technical and set in condensed uppercase. JÄÄDE is a light serif with air around it. Put them next to each other carelessly and one eats the other.
I resolved it by giving each brand its own territory in the frame and letting a single vertical rule separate them, then matching them on tone instead of style: low light, hard shadow, motion blur, no colour beyond skin and sky. The photography does the joining, so neither logotype has to compromise.

Campaigns through the year
Singapore's retail calendar runs on festive moments, and a Nordic brand has to enter them without dressing up as something it is not.
For Lunar New Year the ang pao carries red foil and gold, as the occasion demands, but the pattern is the brand's own water line rather than a borrowed motif. For Christmas the still and sparkling variants were separated by neck labels alone, so a shelf reads at a glance. Merchandise stayed to the monogram and one blue.

Festive neck labels separating still from sparkling, and monogram merchandise.
Product stills
Art direction and retouching for the product photography that everything else is built on. Shot and graded almost monochrome, because the water is the subject and colour would only compete with it.
Bottle stills. Nearly monochrome, so the water reads first.
The full footprint
Beyond the campaigns, the engagement covered a working file's worth of production design: KOL cards, a water drop brochure, a menu card for a chocolatier collaboration, mid-summer cup designs, fridge decals, packaging die lines, and the FHA trade show stand.
Most of it is unglamorous. All of it is where a premium brand is actually won or lost, because a customer meets the fridge decal long before they meet the campaign.

The outcome
JÄÄDE went into a major Singapore sports sponsorship, a festive retail calendar and a trade show presence inside the same year, from one visual system, with the brand reading the same in every one.
For a premium water competing against imported names with far larger budgets, consistency is the whole argument. It is what makes a product feel expensive before anyone tastes it.
In motion
Editing and finishing in After Effects, cut to the same restraint as the print work.
Brand film. I cut and graded this one, holding the blues cold enough to read as Nordic without tipping into teal.
